Montezuma County Amateur Photo Contest
Hosted by the Dolores, Mancos and Cortez Area Chambers of Commerce The contest is open to amateurs only. A professional is defined as one whose primary source of income (50%) or more results from his/her photographic work.
The purpose of this contest is to generate a photo library for use by the local Chambers of Commerce for the promotion of the Montezuma County area.
Photos should capture the beauty of the people, scenery, personality, history or natural elements which contribute to the profile of our quality of life here in Montezuma County. (Hint: One of the intended uses of these photos will be for website usage and horizontal pictures tend to work the best.)
Three photographs will be selected as First, Second and Third place. There will be recognition for two Honorable Mention entries also.

Submissions, to be juried will be accepted from through June 21, 2013. A signed release form must be submitted to the Cortez Area Chamber of Commerce, 928 E Main. Cortez, Colorado 81321.
Photos must be submitted in jpg.format to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to be juried. Please include a brief description of your photo and location and date that it was taken. If one of your photos is selected as a finalist you will be notified by July 3, 2013 and then you must send or deliver a ready-to-hang photo to the Cortez Area Chamber of Commerce, 928 E Main Street, Cortez, CO 81321. Print size should be 8x12. Print must be flush mounted on an 11x14 mat, with no frame or other mounting. To flush mount, use an 11x14 mount board and place the print on top of the mat using tacky glue, craft glue for pictures, or medical tape. Photos will not be returned. There will be 50 photographs chosen to be displayed and judged for first, second and third place and 2 honorable mentions.
Only original photos taken by an artist in Montezuma County will be accepted. Photographs must be suitable to a family environment.
All images must be submitted by the original contestant. By submitting an image, the contestant represents and warrants that:
- The contestant is the sole and exclusive owner of the image and has the right to license such image as provided herein.
- To the best of the contestant’s knowledge the image does not infringe any copyright, trademark right, or right of privacy or publicity, and does not defame any third party.
It is the responsibility of the contestant to obtain written permission to release for public use any submitted photo from all persons in the photograph submitted. The photographer accepts all liability from the use of a photo where this release has not been obtained. The Montezuma County Chambers of Commerce are not responsible or liable for legal implications resulting in the publication of any submitted photo. The Chambers are not responsible for any damage or theft to any entry.
By entering the contest, you grant to the Dolores, Mancos and Cortez Area Chambers of Commerce a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, copy, and display the image without payment, royalties, or any other compensation. Further, by entering the contest, you grant to the Chambers the right to use and publish your name online, in print, and all other media for editorial, advertising, and promotional purposes in connection with the contest without payment or additional compensation unless prohibited by law. Also by entering the contest, you agree to release and hold harmless the Chambers from any and all liability for any injuries, loss, claim, action, demand, or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the contest or contest prize.
